CD Side of the Digipak Draft 1

This is going to be the image that is on the CD and the cover behind it, The face of the artist will be on the actual CD for the digipak, and the same image will be behind it so that even when the CD is taken out of the digipak you can still see the same image and see the artist. The white circles are representations of the actual CD. I like how this looks as I've used the same image as the front cover and made it black and white as well, this helps know that the CD belongs to that digipak. I think that I will add some text onto the CD, such as the artists name and the album/digipak name, further linking the CD to the rest of the digipak. And again I have put in where the digipak would fold and the spines that would be there.

Magazine Advert Draft 4

This is going to be my final magazine advert. The position of the digipak cover and the date of its release are where I planned to put them again, I have changed to size of both to make them slightly bigger, and put to text into the artists shadow around where the mouth would be, which is like the artist is telling the audience of the release. I am happy with how this looks and think it promotes both the artist and his digipak, with the music video very well, as well as using features that link it well to the digipak and the music video.

Magazine Advert Draft 3

This is another draft of my magazine advert for my digipak, I have changed the location of the digipak cover and the coming out date. I like it in both places but I think that I prefer it underneath the heading of the magazine, as it is like saying the name of the album/song then featuring and showing the audience the cover of the digipak so they know what to look for, then showing the name of the artist so they know who to look out for. So I think that I will move the digipak cover to the top again, but I might change the size to be a bit bigger, and change the size of the 'coming out' text to be bigger too, to make sure the audience can see it properly.

Outside Cover of Digipak

This is the cover that when the digipak is fully open would be on the outside along with the front cover and the back cover. I have again left a spine to indicate where the digipak will open out. I have done a collage of pictures of the artist on this cover, the pictures are a mixture of screen shots from the music video and images that were used for my auxiliary tasks. I think this works well in my digipak as it links all three of my products together and it is a common feature in digipaks/albums, it promotes the artists face, so that the audience can recognise the artist. I think that this looks good and I will be keeping this how it is and be putting it as part of my digipak.

Magazine Advert Draft 2

This is another draft of my magazine advert, I have added an image of the front cover of my digipak, as well as the date of which it would be released. This makes it more recognisable as an promotion for the album/digipak, making it more effective as a promotion product. I like how this looks and may keep the layout as it is but I think I will move the cover of the digipak and the date around to try different things.

Inside of Digipak Draft 3

I have changed the colour of the text for this and I think that it looks a lot better in green than it did red. It fits better with the pictures and the rest of my digipak, the advert and my video. I will be keeping this page as it is, as I feel it looks good like this. I may take the idea of using pictures of the artist to create the other outside cover that will be next to the back cover of my digipak, by doing a sort of collage of images, using images from the advert, digipak and the music video, further promoting and linking my products.

Inside of Digipak Draft 2

This is another draft of the inside cover of my digipak, like I planned to I have added in text, something that is written like the artist has wrote it himself, giving the digipak a more professional feel as well as a personal feel, like the artist is bothered about communicating with his fans and showing that he is bothered about sending a message to his fans. He is talking about how he started with playing instruments and singing, to writing his own material, to being signed by a record company, onto being a famous artist and living his dream. I have done the text in red as it could represent relationships which is what he explains as some of his influences, but I might change the colour of the text to green, as I feel this works better with the rest of the digipak as well as linking it further to the other products I have used. I feel it will go well with the one coloured picture on this cover also.

Inside of Digipak Draft 1

This is my frist draft of one of the inside covers of the digipak, the very inside cover that will be along side the CD and DVD covers. I will be adding some text under the pictures on this page, this is often a convention used with digipaks. Having different pictures of the artist along with some information about them as well, such as when they started, their label, their influences etc, and this is what I intend to write on this. I have also put in a line, indicating where a spine would be, as in where the digipak would bend.

Cover of Digipak Final

This is my final draft of my front cover of the digipak, I like how it looks, especially in contrast to the back which is in colour and a extreme long shot of the artist, yet I think that it is still recognisable that all of my products go together well. I added in the information for the spine of the digipak, and I feel that this gives it a more finished and professional look to the cover, making it more believable as a real product.

Cover of Digipak Draft 2

This is another draft of my digipak cover, like I wanted to do I have put the image in black and white, I feel that this works with they way the music video is, and is a good contrast to the rest of the digipak that will be in colour. Like the back of my digipak I need to add in the spine and the contents that will be featured on the spine, which will be the same as shown on the back of my digipak. I also kept the image in its original layout, whereas in the other draft of my cover I had flipped the image so that the artist was facing the other way, but I feel that this works well.

Cover of Digipak Draft 1

This is a draft of my cover of my digipak, I like the fonts and the image, but I think that I will be trying out different layouts and maybe a different image for the front cover, I might do the front cover in black and white as this is how my video begins, with the artist in black and white. I think that this could be a good way of ensuring that it is easy to link all three of my products together and to know that they are related.

Back of Digipak Draft 1

This is the back of my digipak, I have also included a spine with the artists name, album name/song name and the record company assigned to. I decided that it would look good to use a imagine from my actual music video, which makes it look more professional as well as makes sure that the digipak looks as though it belongs with the music video and the magazine advert. I also added other songs, as this is a convention that is featured with albums, I felt that it made my product look more realistic and professional.

Magazine Advert Draft 1

This is my first draft of my magazine advert, I have edited the image itself to give the effect of a hard shadow behind, like in my video, to be more dominant, and to give the image a better quality and colour. I thought I would play around with the name of the song/album by adding '...to listen to' as it references the name of the song in a way that tells the audience that there is something more for them to listen to as this is his newest stuff, as well as suggesting that there will be more to come as well. I have featured the name of the artist also as it ensures, like my analysed magazine adverts, that the audience notice and remember the name of the artist, further promoting.

Magazine Advert Layout 1

Like the digipaks so far I have tried out a layout and font styles for my magazine advert of the digipak. I like the layout of this advert as well as the fonts I have chosen. I will be inserting a picture of the artist into the advert, as well as a small image of the digipak cover, ensuring it is seen by the reader so they know what to look for.

Layout of Digipak Back 1

This is my try for the layout of the back cover of the digipak, I have chosen a layout that I feel looks good and like an actual CD cover, I have also included the spines of the digipak, which I have put the name of the artist and the name of the album onto. I like the layout of this back cover and feel this may be my final layout chosen, I will insert a picture as the background to make the cover look more relevant to the artist and front cover.

Layout of Digipak Cover 1

This is the front cover of my digipak, this is a play with fonts I could use and the type of fonts I would possibly like to use as well. I have also tried this as a layout of where my text will be going, with the image in the middle, as the background of the digipak cover.

Magazine analysis 1

This is a magazine advert for Ellie Goulding's 'Lights' album. A picture of her is used in the advert to ensure that the audience understand who Ellie Goulding is, and are aware of who to look for when they go for her music. It ensures that the artist is seen by the audience, further promoting herself to her target audience. The biggest text in the advertisement is the artists names, this is to catch the audience's eye onto the most important text, her name, again ensuring that her name is promoted to be known in relation to the face seen and the music people would hear. The name of the song being promoted is 'Lights' and is also interpreted in many ways into the presentation of the advertisement. It is also the second largest text as it is another piece of information that they want the audience to take note of and remember.
The colours in the image used are a way that the title of the song 'Lights' has been interpreted, through the use of the black, which would represent no light, to her skin and hair being bright and used in a way that represents a light being on and bringing some lightness to the darker parts. The image has been edited to make her hair look as though her hair has sparks of light in it, again representing the 'Lights' into the image. This has been continued through to the text in the advert as well, having them as though they are a light being switched on and of the relevant colours that are consistent throughout as well.

I would like to try and represent my song name within my image like this advert. I would also like to ensure that the image and the artists name are two of the main focus' of my advert like this one, I feel this would not only look good and professional but also would follow the conventions of this kind of advertisement. I would like my image to be used as the background of the advert as this one as done so, and I would like to use a medium shot as well, I feel this would be the best camera shot to take for my magazine advertisement as it would be the best shot to ensure that the artist can be easily seen and therefore ensure that the artist can be recognised by the audience that would look at my advertisement along with the artists name.

Digipak 3

This digipak, like the Oasis one, doesn't feature the actual artist on the cover. Instead the cover features a made love heart, this represents the type of music that will be featured on the album. Saying more about the artist himself, that he has created an album that would mainly be centred around love based things.

Like the other digipaks, the front cover of the digipak is featured on the CD face, making sure that there can be a distinct relation between the two, ensuring that the owner knows what CD they will be listening to without having to have the case with them, making things far more convenient for the owner. There are only the slightest of a difference between the front cover of the digipack and the CD face, giving the artist a way of adding just that little bit more information on the CD face.

The other faces of the digipak feature different things, as conventional with an album, there is a ordered list of the songs on the CD, informing the owner of which song they will be listening to as well as what songs will be coming on next. There is also general information on the artist featured in the digipak, telling a little of the back story of the artist, general things that a fan would like to know.

For my own digipak I would like to feature information on the artist that would interest the fans and buyers of the digipak, as well as ensuring the owners know the name of the song and artist, therefore promoting further. I would like to ensure that it is easily recognisable that the digipak and the CD belong together, ensuring that there is a relation and similarity between the two, following the conventional features of making a digipak and CD, and promoting the artist and their songs.

Digipak 2

Unlike the Oasis digipak this one shows the actual artist, as I would like to do with my own digipak. This represents the artist, ensuring that the audience knows what the artist looks like so that he can be recognised. The same picture has been used twice, one for the CD itself the other on one side of the digipak, this gives a better, clearly view of the image than it does on the CD, it also ensures that it looks like the actual CD belongs with the rest of the pack. Having a running theme throughout the digipak, with colour, font, and image.

On the front cover of the digipak the artist is looking to his left, which in a way could symbolise him showing the audience the way to open the rest of the digipak, as though the artist is willing the consumer to follow his directions to open the digipak and begin to enjoy his music. The layout of the inside of the digipak in a way hints which order the artist wants the audience to look, like reading a book, from left to right, as though starting from the left, so putting the CD in and playing it, then moving right and reading which songs are on the CD and what will come on after the next song etc, then right again to ensure the audience remember the artist.

I would like to try and interpret some of the features that are used for this digipak. I would like to have a picture of my artist as the front cover, which is a medium shot, making it possible to have the artist in a pose that would make the image more important. For the CD itself I would use a picture on that too, as it is a good way of making sure even if the digipak is lost that the CD can be recognised as that artist as well as making sure the artists face is still seen and known.

Digipak 1

This digipak for Oasis uses image to portray what kind of music is on this album, the use of the acoustic guitar as the front cover of the pack tells the audience that this in an acoustic album. It uses quite natural colours in terms of wood colours to interpret that the music is at its purest form of an acoustic guitar.

The songs are also printed onto the actual CD, which helps the user read where each song is before playing the CD in case the case can't be seen. It makes the CD look better than it would if it were just plain, ensuring that it is know that the CD belongs to that digipak, avoiding mixing CDs up with each other.

Like this I would like to interpret the kind of music the artist has done within the digipak. Ensuring that it looks like it should belong to the artist and their style. On my own digipak I want to show the artists actual face within the covers, as being a way of promotion to get the artists face recognised and known by its audience.
